Bolder Vision Optik (BVO) designs, consults and manufactures polarization control components. Liquid crystal devices, waveplates (retarders), achromatic waveplates and polarizers are manufactured in our Boulder, Colorado facility. BVO supplies standard, custom and OEM volume components to spec.

POLARIZERS

ULTRAVIOLET POLARIZERS

BVO UV – A UV / Visible linear polarizer working from 320-760nm. BVO ultraviolet (UV) provides a cost competitive UV solution to OEM manufacturers compared to expensive glass polarizers. Can withstand lower damage threshold input light sources.

VISIBLE POLARIZERS

BVO UHC – 42% transmission while delivering high contrast. BVO UHC is a classic high transmission linear polarizer covering all applications for visible light, 400-700 nm.

BVO 38 – 38% transmission replacement polarizer for legacy systems. Many older optical drawings call for the original HN 38 from Polaroid. BVO 38 is the perfect replacement polarizer designed for the 400-700nm band.

BVO 125 – A tough dye stuff polarizer for the rugged market. BVO 125 linear polarizer is more resistant to optical power damage, high temperatures or blue LED’s large energy flux. Covers 410-675nm band.

BVO 244 – 45% ultra transmission polarizer for applications tolerant of lower contrast. Great for multiple stage applications requiring a minimum amount of loss. Covers 400-700nm.

BVO Colored Polarizers – RGB dye stuff polarizers for color channel specific applications. Includes higher durability pressure sensitive adhesive to withstand projection environments. Also useful for tunable filter designs.

NEAR INFRARED POLARIZERS

BVO IR – The flagship infrared polarizer is a NIR broadband dichroic linear polarizer covering 700-1700 nm. Excels in NIR imaging, LED light sources, solid state detectors and all IR camera applications.

BVO Wire Grid (WG) – New wire grid film maximizing bandwidth and flexibility. A hybrid reflective polarizer covers the visible and NIR bandwidth, 400-1600 nm. Works at both 0˚ angle of incidences and 45˚ as a beamsplitter. Key strengths are larger size, 80 micron thickness, high contrast and imaging capable.

BVO NIR diode – Most inexpensive NIR polarizer on the market. Covers both visible and NIR bandwidth, 450-1000 nm. Has scatter but works great for LED light banks or sensors and available in large sizes.

BVO 777 – Visible / NIR hybrid polarizer providing great value for those needing high contrast up to 800 nm. Imaging capable and very affordable.

BVO 900 – Visible / NIR hybrid polarizer extending to 850nm capturing key LED and laser light sources. A cost effective solution for those who require extension to a higher wavelength.

Precision liquid crystal components can be custom designed to meet customer specifications. Small and large lot sizes targeted for OEM developers and optical processing equipment. Examples are high uniformity, faster switching speeds, maximum extinction ratio or high retardance LC devices where the advantage is flexibility and variety.

HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION LOTS (100-10,000 UNITS)

NIR twisted nematic cells, between crossed polarizers and backlit. Delivery was for 2,000 pieces per month.

An array of liquid crystal piCells

Large volume production of liquid crystal components create dramatically decreased prices at the expense of cell design flexibility. Once all key parameters are confirmed, a large scale production of thin glass devices begins. Fundamental LC optic manufacturing incorporated with large scale process create cheaper components destined for consumer electronics, measuring equipment and technical instrumentation.
